What is blockscript?

blockscript is a small script I wrote that uses iptables to block and allow PCs on my network from using MSN, Hotmail, Yahoo and AIM. It was made to stop siblings from spending too much time chatting when they should be doing homework. I then rewrote it to allow for more control with IPs. From msnblock was born blockscript!

How Does It Work?

The script uses a few iptables commands to block and allow access to the MSN, Yahoo & AOL networks. You can run the command from the command line or you can use cron to automate it at certain times.
